Assalamualaikum semua.

Love the view & history, well preserved and maintained heritage. This place is fun to be at night too. Colourful & attractive trishaws await to bring you around for a short tour. Your kids will surely love it too! You can rent a bike, roller blade, scooter etc. Well done state government! Nanie Hanapi

It is a small gate house and the only remaining part of the fortress that used to surround the St. Paul’s Hill. It was built by the Portuguese in 1512, making it one of the oldest surviving colonial architectural remains in South East Asia. During the British colonial period, the fortress was almost entirely demolished, only to be stopped by Sir Stamford Raffles and Lord Minto, saving the small gate house that we see today. Today, other than the gate house, we could also see several replicas of the old fortress cannons around it. Shasitharan Mc

Must.see for everyone who visits Malacca. Wear light cotton long.sleeved and a wide.brimmed hat. Bring water too. It’s.really hot walk.up the hill. Fara Ghazali

Probably the most popular symbol of Melaka. The remains of the fort itself doesn’t seem very amazing, just a small gate like structure, what’s left of the actual fort itself. When visiting Melaka, one has to take a photo with the A Famosa. When we were here, there were some street musicians singing from within the area. From the back of the fort, climb up to St Paul’s Hill. Stephen Abraham

Must See place in Melaka. True piece of history of Malaysia. Please bring an umbrella or big hat as the sun heat can get too much after a while. Many Singapore-Malaysian Eurasians regard this place as part of their heritage. Tammy Long

Malacca’s best known sightseeing spot, one of the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Asia and located downhill from St. Paul’s church, I was trilled and excited standing among the many to see Porta De Santiago- th small gate. Being here gives you a nice feeling of knowing about the yesterday’s history of Malacca. Must see if you are holidaying in Malacca. Nava K

Not the grandest of sights, but the defining landmark of Melaka, so not to be missed. Hans Damen

Don’t expect much as this is basically a door way of the famous Portuguese fortress in the far east. It is made to protect Portuguese interest in Melaka. The fort was blown up by the British & only this doorway remains. J Goh

Where the sad history of Melaka in the past started. Also very sad what’s left is merely one of the four forts, namely the Porta de Santiago. What makes it even more sad is the wrong restoration on it, nevertheless, this has always and will always be the landmark of Melaka. Still recommended for a visit here. Yik Wai

A Famosa (Malay: Kota A Famosa; “The Famous” in Portuguese) was a Portuguese fortress located in Malacca, Malaysia. It is among the oldest surviving European architectural remains in south east Asia. The Porta de Santiago, a small gate house, is the only part of the fortress which still remains today. Minh Vu Hoang
