Assalamualaikum semua. Tinggalan sejarah yang sebenar di Malaysia adalah paling masyhur di sini iaitu Kota A’Famosa. Tidak diragui lagi, tinggalan kota A Famosa ini adalah merupakan tempat menarik di Melaka.
Gah seperti namanya, Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah amat terkenal dengan pelbagai tinggalan sejarah sejak Zaman Kesultanan Melayu Melaka juga. Di sini juga merupakan pusat pentadbiran Kerajaan Tanah Melayu yang menguasai segenap tanah di beberapa kawasan di Asia Tenggara.
Kota A Famosa (bermaksud “Yang Termashur” dalam bahasa Portugis) telah dibina oleh Portugis sebaik sahaja berjaya menawan Melaka pada tahun 1511. A Famosa terletak di Bandar Hilir, Melaka bersebelahan replika Istana Kesultanan Melaka dan Gereja St. Paul. Ia merupakan seni bina Eropah tertua yang masih tinggal di Asia. Disamping kota A Famosa ini, anda berkesempatan untuk melawati pelbagai tempat dan tinggalan sejarah dari Zaman Kesultanan Melayu, Zaman Penjajahan hinggalah Zaman Kemerdekaan.
Sebaik sahaja mereka menawan Melaka, Portugis menggunakan buruh paksa untuk membina kubu sementara bagi menangkis serangan orang-orang Melayu, sementara mereka membina kubu utama yang digelar “A Famosa”, atau secara rasminya Kubu Melaka (Fortaleza de Malaca). Kota A Famosa mengambil masa selama 5 bulan untuk di bina. Akibat suhu panas terik dan kekurangan makanan, ramai buruh paksa yang mati ketika membina kota tersebut. Bahan bagi membina kota tersebut diambil dari runtuhan masjid dan bangunan lain.
Pembinaan kota A Famosa atas arahan Alfonso de Albuquerque ini sebenarnya meliputi satu kubu pertahanan yang kuat iaitu mengandungi pintu gerbang utama di pelbagai arah dan terdapat 70 buah meriam di sepanjang kubunya. Yang tinggal sekarang ini hanyalah sebahagian pintu gerbangnya sahaja. Kami juga kongsikan Peta Tempat Menarik ini.

This is the best place to visit. There are a lot of museums, galleries, and memorials for those who seeking for historic information regarding Malaya and Malay. It also good for those who love to visit historical places. Don’t worry about food and other stuff, there are also stalls and restaurants around. souvenirs are also there! shop what you what, enjoy as you pleased ?. Hotels are not really far from there. Love the view & history, well preserved and maintained heritage. This place is fun to be at night too. Colourful & attractive trishaws await to bring you around for a short tour. It is a small gate house and the only remaining part of the fortress that used to surround the St. Paul’s Hill. It was built by the Portuguese in 1512, making it one of the oldest surviving colonial architectural remains in South East Asia. During the British colonial period, the fortress was almost entirely demolished, only to be stopped by Sir Stamford Raffles and Lord Minto, saving the small gate house that we see today. Probably the most popular symbol of Melaka. The remains of the fort itself doesn’t seem very amazing, just a small gate like structure, what’s left of the actual fort itself. When visiting Melaka, one has to take a photo with the A Famosa. When we were here, there were some street musicians singing from within the area. Don’t expect much as this is basically a door way of the famous Portuguese fortress in the far east. It is made to protect Portuguese interest in Melaka. The fort was blown up by the British & only this doorway remains. J Goh
Where the sad history of Melaka in the past started. Also very sad what’s left is merely one of the four forts, namely the Porta de Santiago. What makes it even more sad is the wrong restoration on it, nevertheless, this has always and will always be the landmark of Melaka. Still recommended for a visit here. Yik Wai
